A VILLAGE store has unveiled its new look following a £260,000 refurb.

Representatives from Mencap helped officially open the new Co-operative in Selby Road, Askern.

The learning disabilities organisation is the firm’s charity of the year. Mencap was handed £200 as part of the opening.

Keith Boyall, store manager, said: “As a community retailer it is appropriate we involve the community in our special events and we are delighted Mencap helped play a central role in the relaunch of our store.”

The new store features contemporary decor, a new layout and an increase in chilled and fresh foods as well as the introduction of a new home-delivery service.”
