HAXEY Women’s Institute enjoyed an evening when speaker Mrs Sue Clifton illustrated with slides her subject entitled “Stitching up the family”.
She produced a three banner wall hanging depicting her family going back many generations, showing their work and illustrating memories of her childhood and those which had prompted her to produce this beautiful work all stitched by hand. This had taken nine years to complete.
Final arrangements were made for the jubilee celebrations which will be held at next month’s meeting. Sandra Bishop of “Occasions” will be providing the food. Members are asked to take along royal memorabilia.
A meeting is being held at Westwoodside Village Hall when members will discuss and display material for the archives.
Several members will be helping host the parish parties organised in June.
The next meeting will be held in Haxey Memorial Hall on July 4 at 7.30pm. The speaker is Ken Bates on “North Yorkshire Police”.
