A TEAM of bank workers pedalled 484 miles without leaving their workplace to help a charity.

The workers from the Co-operative Bank on St Sepulchre Gate completed the distance - the equivalent of riding from Plymouth to Edinburgh - on an exercise bike borrowed from Doncaster Council’s St James Leisure Centre.

The staff completed their five day sponsored ride for the charity Mencap, and raised more than £700.

Aimee Pickering, senior branch advisor at The Co-op, said: “As a team we collectively rode 484 miles. We raised a fantastic £396 over the course of the week from donations put into the collection buckets and the staff raised £319 from sponsorship, totalling £715.”

She said they were grateful for the loan of the exercise bike.
