Epworth Christmas Lights Committee had a stall at the recent food fair in town to raise funds towards the purchase of new strings of low energy LED bulbs.
Each new string costs around £1,000 but will reduce the electricity used by around 90 per cent.
Spokesman Martin Whittaker said: “Through savings in electricity costs, the strings would eventually pay for themselves as well as being better for the environment.”
The committee would like to send a big thank you to all who sponsored a bulb as part of the fund raising event in which £143.22 was raised. Pictured on the stall are Graham Hackney and Martin.
