staff at a Doncaster insurance company took on an ambitious charitable challenge cycling from Lands End to John O’Groates - without leaving the office.

The intrepid workers at One Call in Balby took on the task in a bid to raise cash for cancer support group Firefly.

Employees, who covered the miles on exercise bikes provided by Nuffield Health, are aiming to raise enough money to buy a new Firefly Express bus which the group will use to ferry cancer patients from Doncaster to Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital.

Marketing manager Kelly Diver said: “The distance from Lands End to John O’Groates is about 880 miles but we ended up travelling about 1,300 so everyone was really pleased.

“We thought it was a really good local charity to support and everyone was amazing on the day, we all supported each other.”

Money is still coming in to the company that is planning a series of other events for Firefly during the year.
