IT certainly is a case of I would walk 500 miles for a trio of Doncaster servicemen.

For the Cpls Lee Gibbons and James Spencer and Pte Nathan Kendall are embarking an epic task of running 500 miles on a treadmill at the Frenchgate Centre.

The soldiers based at Scarborough Barracks in Balby, are completing the task for forces charity Help for Heroes in full uniform and a 20lb backpack used while on patrol.

They started their challenge on Monday and aim to reach the 500 mile mark by Sunday.

Cpl Gibbons, said: “I have served in the Armed Forces for coming up to 14 years now and I am fortunate enough to still be in good health. After two tours of Bosnia and two in Iraq, I am extremely lucky to be here unharmed. We want to help to raise funds for the charity as any of us could need their support.”
