Making a Will is one of the most important things any of us can do, to ensure our final wishes are met, and yet over 60 per cent of people put off this vital step until it is too late according to research from Standard Life (2012)
However, Skipton Building Society’s Hatfield branch, Doncaster is offering its customers a unique opportunity to make sure they are prepared for the inevitable, with its free Will writing and updating service.
Emphasising our mutual commitment to going that extra mile for our customers, the branch, on Station Road, Hatfield is offering this service to every existing customer, and new customers taking out any other product with the Society, such as a savings account, a mortgage or one of our range of insurances and investments.
Anyone wishing to take advantage of this offer – worth up to £180 – should pop into the Hatfield branch. where one of our friendly advisers will arrange an appointment to guide qualifying customers through the process of completing their individual or, for couples, mirror Wills, which usually takes up to an hour.
This offer is also relevant to people who already have a Will. It is recommended that everyone reviews their Will when their circumstances change, or every few years and, again, the Hatfield branch team will be happy to help with this.
Judith Lewkowicz, senior customer adviser said: “As a mutual, we are passionate about helping our customers to make sure they have all their financial bases covered.
“We believe that making a Will is vital, to make sure our loved ones benefit from the things we choose to leave behind.
“We understand that thinking about dying can be difficult. However, many people might not realise that not doing so, and dying intestate, can result in their legacy being left to people not of their choosing or the state, rather than the people who matter most to them.
In 2010, the Treasury gained £53m from people by not having made a Will.
“Our aim is to protect our customers from falling into this trap, by offering them access to a free Will, or Will update. This is just the latest way in which we aim to make their experience of being part of a leading mutual building society extra special.”
