Ridgewood School sixth form students George Coley and Andrew Cross joined the Logistics team at Wirquin Ltd – a leading sanitary equipment to gain work experience.
George Coley worked in the Transport Office where he learnt how to print and process customer orders, plan the transport for efficient delivery, and work alongside other departments in the internal supply chain.
Andrew Cross worked at the carrier desk on the warehouse shop floor inputting customer orders, including the delivery address, consignment quantity and parcel weight, into the freight database.
“These two 17-year olds were both impressed by Wirquin’s operational facilities and expressed their thanks for the opportunity to gain experience in a profession that they might now wish to undertake,” says Scott Kelly, Logistics Manager.
Wirquin is keen to work more closely with Doncaster schools and colleges and support the local community and economy. There are currently 210 permanent staff as well as apprentices and student interns on site.
The French company offers the renowned brands Celmac, Macdee and Wirquin Pro whose product range includes toilet seats, flushing mechanisms, cisterns, frames, wetrooms, traps, wastes and connectors.
