THREE church-going mums raced across the finish line in their first competitive run and raised over £1,000.

Angela Teasdale, 43, Sarah Maughan, 41, and Michelle Parker, 37, lead the Sing Out family singing group at St Michael’s Church, Rossington.

The terrfic trio, despite never having entered a running competition, decided to put on their trainers and take part in the Great North Run.

Sarah and Michelle were mothers of children in the group who, together with their families, have joined the congregation and are the two main helpers for Sing Out which boasts 28 children and 13 adult members.

The pair with Angela, who founded Sing Out in back in 2008, were aptly nicknamed ‘Joggers 4 Jesus’ and managed to complete the tough 13.1 mile Newcastle trek.

The funds they have raised will all go towards improving the church.
