Severe weather set to cause disruption

A WEATHER warning is in place this morning with strong winds and ran expected to the batter the area.

The Met Office has issued the warning and says winds are set to get stronger throughout the morning and could top 70mph. Gusts could lead to structural damage and travel disruption.

Train operator East Coast is running an amended service, including those stopping at Doncaster.

There are no reports of disruption so far at Doncaster’s Robin Hood Airport.

Motorists are being asked to take extra care on the roads.

The Highways Agency has issued an amber alert in Yorkshire for high-sided vehicles, caravans and motorbikes, They are advised to avoid exposed stretches of road if at all possible.

Location likely to be affected by gusts include junction 32 of the M1, the turn off for the M18
