Seeking temporary homes for Belarus children affected by Chernobyl nuclear disaster

FAMILIES are being recruited to temporarily home two children from Belarus who’ve been affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

A group of youngsters aged between ten and 12 are visiting Selby district during the summer, and representatives from the Chernobyl Children’s Project are looking for families to home the final two.

The children will be visiting the UK for a month, but will only be staying with each family for two weeks, during which time they will be given medical and dental checks and taken on various day trips around the region.

The children speak a reasonable level of English, and it’s not necessary for people wanting to home the visitors to have their own children.

Anyone in the Selby or Sherburn area who would be interested in looking after two children for a fortnight is asked to call 07970 942912.
