AN award-winning butchers has unveiled its latest crowd-pleaser - a boozy banger.

Wilkinson’s butchers teamed up with Doncaster Brewery to produce the ale-soaked seasonal sizzler and the creators received a ‘bitter’ good news when it was awarded gold at a British Pork Executive competition.

The winning recipe is a beef sausage marinaded for three days in the micro-brewery’s Cheswold Bitter and topped off with black pepper and breadcrumbs.

The butchers, which has sites in the town centre’s market and Bawtry, has created a beer-soaked gammon with the bespoke ale too which shoppers have been snapping up.

Daniel Wilkinson, a butcher at the family-run business, said: “Ian and Alison Blaylock of Doncaster Brewery are regulars at our butchers and we came up with the idea which has really taken off with customers, they love both versions.”
