Could you be the Danny and Sandy a Dearne director wants - to fill the lead roles of a new ‘Grease’ production?
It’s the first time the full West End version of the iconic show has been made available to theatre companies, and role auditions take place this weekend in the Dearne.
Wombwell director Lee Semley’s LS Theatre Productions will stage Grease this summer at Birdwell’s Academy Theatre. And the search is on for local performers with raw talent to inject in to the famous lead roles.
Mr Semley said: “I’m looking for something different...someone who can breathe new life in to these roles and still be respectful to the era. I want to find two performers with star quality. Danny needs to be enigmatic with real sex appeal. He needs to make Sandy and the audience melt.
“As for Sandy, she needs to have innocence and a voice of an angel but with a feisty edge so that her appearance in the iconic leather outfit at the end is believable.”
He added: “Ultimately we are looking for fans of the show. People who love the songs as much as we do and will relish the opportunity to be involved in a show based on the film that is very much part of everyone’s childhood. We seek local performers over 16 years of age to play all the main roles.
“These are big shows to fill but I believe the talent is out there in South Yorkshire. We’ve just got to unearth it.”
Auditions will be on April 7. For further information email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01226 299047
