Are you barmy about baubles, mad about mistletoe, and crackers about carol singing?

If you’re simply crazy about Christmas your festive cheer could win you a hamper full of prizes from a Doncaster shopping centre.

Doncaster Outlet Centre at Lakeside Village is searching for South Yorkshire’s answer to Kris Kringle.

And the search for the most festive person will culminate in an elf-off competition that could make your Christmas the best ever.

Staff at the centre have devised a programme of top family entertainment for the local community to enjoy throughout the festive season, and they hope to find a real-life festive elf to give it Santa’s seal of approval.

Anyone of any age who feels they fit the bill should apply telling the centre why they should be crowned South Yorkshire’s Most Festive Person.

The best entrants will take part in the elf-off.

Inspired by the Christmas film Elf, the live challenge will test applicants to see who really is the most festive person in the county.

The challenge, to be judged by the children of Balby Central Primary School in Doncaster, will pit the contestants against one another in a series of Yuletide tasks to reveal who has the most Christmas spirit.

Challenges will include wrapping gifts, carol singing, and a speed-shopping round where the competitors must find the best present for a chosen family member in just five minutes.

Applications can be submitted via Lakeside Village’s Facebook page from today and should include a photograph.

Successful applicants will be notified on Thursday, November 13, and the elf-off will take place on Thursday, November 20.

The winner will be crowned South Yorkshire’s Most Festive Person and will be invited in to the centre to give its Christmas celebrations the once-over – plus they will receive a luxury Christmas hamper full of treats from the centre worth £200.

Cheryl Sadler, centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “Christmas is one of the most important times of year here at the centre and we put a huge amount of effort into making it magical for our visitors, especially the children.

“So this year we are searching for South Yorkshire’s Most Festive Person to come along and let us know how we are doing.

“We look forward to receiving lots of applications and meeting the real-life elves as they take on our elf-off.”

The centre has lots of festive fun lined up including a real-life penguin parade on Sunday, November 30, between 11am and 4pm.
