A PRIMARY school has unveiled a brand new library following a year of fundraising.
Supporters of Hatchell Wood Primary School all came together to hold a variety of fundraising events including quiz nights, raffles, a summer fair and a talent show.
Over £2,000 was donated towards the Cantley school’s fund to build the new facility from the events organised by its Parents’ and Teachers Association (PTA).
This week parents, children, staff and supporters had the chance to see the new-look library which not only boasts a wide range of books, but also computers, chairs and settees.
Mark Huby, chairman of the Friends of Hatchell Wood group and chair of governors at the school, helped to officially open the library which also marked the first day of Hatchell Wood’s Reading Week.
He said: “The new library has really made a big difference to the school. The children are now able to sit, read and enjoy these new facilities, making their library time much more enjoyable.”
Jeremy Harris, headteacher, added: “We are, as ever, eternally grateful to Mr Huby and all members of the PTA. They work tirelessly all year round, fundraising via so many events in school.
“It is through their efforts that we have been able to transform our library, which has totally enhanced the children’s learning environment.”
