A REVOLUTIONARY piece of kit is now available to help diagnose illnesses in dogs, cats and other animals.

It’s not only people who can receive CT and MRI scans, but now prized pets are being helped through the state-of-the-art scanner at Bessacarr’s Beechwood Veterinary Hospital.

The hi-tech equipment allows vets to diagnose a number of conditions that ordinary blood tests and X-rays cannot pick up.

The scanner, worth over £100,000, will be at the Bawtry Road vets twice a month, and already several pets including dogs and cats have used the kit.

Clinical director Mark Straw said: “We’re the first practice in Doncaster to offer this service and have been delighted with the results so far.

“We’ve been able to diagnose so many more pets more quickly and efficiently and the scanner has picked up things other tests simply can’t. It’s extremely safe for the animals and their owners love it.”
