Doncaster Mayor Ros Jones has officially launched a new partnership between Doncaster Council’s Fostering Service and Doncaster Rovers Football Club.
As part of the new partnership, Doncaster Rovers will support the council with its fostering recruitment targets by encouraging fans and sponsors to consider looking after children currently in the care of Doncaster Council.
The Doncaster Fostering service will also become the official sponsors of the Junior Rovers for the new season, supporting a number of the Rovers’ on-going initiatives such as the ‘Attendance 4 Attendance’ program – an initiative where school children are rewarded for 100% attendance with free tickets to a Rovers game.
A new wall vinyl promoting fostering in Doncaster was revealed by Mayor Ros Jones and members of the Doncaster Rovers’ summer camp, alongside Donny Dog and Rovers Senior Commercial Sales Executive Jon Warburton. The vinyl takes pride of place in the concourse of the Family Stand at the Keepmoat Stadium and features hand prints of some of Doncaster’s fostered children.
Coun Nuala Fennelly said: “We are very excited about this new partnership and are delighted to be working with Doncaster Rovers on such an important initiative for the children of Doncaster. We currently have around 165 children and young people living with Doncaster Council’s foster carers and due to growing demand we need to approve an additional 45 foster carers this year.”
Jon Warburton, Senior Commercial Sales Executive at Doncaster Rovers said: “We have a range of loyal commercial partners who really care about Doncaster and value their partnership with Doncaster Rovers Football Club.
“The service being provided by Doncaster Council to help young people is extremely worthwhile and we are looking forward to helping them find eligible foster carers amongst our fanbase.”
