Route changes on bus services

A NUMBER of route alterations have been announced for two bus services which run between Rawmarsh and Rotherham.

Stagecoach Yorkshire say the changes will take affect from January 26 on services 108 and 109 (Rotherham to Rawmarsh).

Service 108 will run from Rotherham via Parkgate, Rawmarsh Hill, Dale Road and then a one-way loop along Thurogate, Lister Avenue, Harding Avenue, Symonds Avenue, Haugh Road, Scovell Avenue, Monkwood Road and Rosehill Road.

It will then return to Rotherham Interchange via Dale Road, Rawmarsh Hill and Parkgate.

The 108 will operate every ten minutes during the daytime on Mondays to Fridays, every 12 minutes on Saturdays, every 30 minutes on Sunday daytimes and every hour during the evening throughout the week.

Service 109 will run from Rotherham via Parkgate, Rawmarsh Hill, Bellows Road, Green Lane, Clay Pit Lane, Thrybergh Hall Road, Kilnhurst Road and then a one-way loop along Thurogate, Lister Avenue, Scovell Avenue, Monkwood Road and Rosehill Road.

It will return to Rotherham Interchange via Kilnhurst Road, Thrybergh Hall Road, Clay Pit Lane, Green Lane, Bellows Road, Rawmarsh Hill and Parkgate.

It will operate every ten minutes during the daytime on Mondays to Fridays, every 12 minutes on Saturdays, every 30 minutes on Sunday daytimes and every hour during the evening throughout the week.

The changes to the 108 and 109 will mean that it will no longer operate as a two-way loop around Rawmarsh.

Stagecoach Yorkshire said the new routes will better match customer demand.

Meanwhile, the Magic Bus route 22 between Rotherham, Manvers and Wath continues to grow in popularity.

As a result, some additional journeys will be introduced between 6pm and 8pm, Monday to Saturday.

There are also minor changes to the timetables on routes 42, 200, 218, 224 and 229 in order to improve their punctuality and reliability.
