FIRE crews were called to a residential street after a controlled bonfire got out of hand.

The incident in Bankwood Lane, Rossington, Doncaster, at around 10.30pm last night left smoke billowing over the village.

Firefighters spent around 40 minutes at the scene after the the rubbish was left unattended, a fire service spokesman said.
