A COMMITTED worker will finally have time off after retiring from his 40-year career where he never had a day off sick!

For ever-present Derek Duffield has decided to hang up his Doncaster Council uniform for the last time this month.

The 64-year-old has enjoyed a lengthy service with the authority working for the council’s roads team, waste management and being a community warden.

And that has all been without the hard-working Braithwell man having a single sick day off work.

Derek’s son Nigel Duffield, said: “He has worked so hard for the council over 40 years and has loved every minute of it.

“His colleagues really don’t want him to leave. They have nothing but kind words to say about the person he is and the work he has done for the council, all without a day off ill.

“He’s been told the mayor Peter Davies will be sending him a congratulatory letter.”
