VOTERS will have their say on whether they want to keep the mayoral system on May 3.
A referendum has been given the go ahead, asking people whether they want to keep the current system of a separately elected mayor or change to a leader and cabinet model, where councillors choose amongst themselves who will lead them.
Polling stations for the referendum will be open from 7am and 10pm, and will run alongside the council elections.
It is expected the result of the referendum will be revealed in the early hours of the following day.
Current mayor Peter Davies has said he doesn’t think now is the right time to hold the referendum as it will cost around £80,000 at a time when the council is facing tough financial decisions.
