Recovering drug users and alcoholics in Doncaster are to take part in an afternoon of sports to help their rehabilitation.
The Recovery Games will see enthusiastic teams of eight to ten people take part in a series of competitive team building activities in the event later this year.
The event will take place at the Hatfield Marina on August 21 from 10am and 5pm.
The Recovery Games celebrates recovery from drug and alcohol dependence, and is a chance for teams of service users, volunteers and staff to work together, competing against other teams from within the Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) and from services across the region.
Teams can collect sponsorship for taking part if they wish, with all proceeds going to the Aurora Cancer Charity.
RDaSH Support Worker Neil Firbank, who organises the event, said: “Previous Recovery Games have been such a success that it’s back due to popular demand.
“This is about having fun and breaking down barriers, and is a chance for users of Drug and Alcohol Services to show their commitment to giving to others.”
Health professionals will be on hand for help and advice, along with motivational speakers, fun activities for families, children and friends, and much more.
If you are interested in taking part, please contact: Neil Firbank on 01302 571240, or email firstname.lastname@example.org and ask for a registration form.
