Sheffield’s annual celebration of writing and reading, Off the Shelf, returns to the city from October 8-29.
A dynamic, distinctive and diverse festival of words, there are around 200 events including readings, debates, workshops, poetry, storytelling, readers’ events, walks, talks, community events, a programme for children and young people and more.
The 2011 festival will offer an enticing line up of writers including Claire Tomalin, Carol Ann Duffy, Jeremy Paxman, Polly Toynbee, Ian Kershaw, Mark Logue and Peter Conradi, Alison Weir, Wendy Cope, Sir John Hegarty, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Jon Ronson, Simon Armitage, Dalgit Nagra and many more.
Some events are currently on sale including David Erdal, Luke Johnson for MADE: The Entrepreneur Festival www.madefestival.com as well as Sir Michael Parkinson, Sir Roy Strong and Rob Brydon.
Off the Shelf also offers special events throughout the year and mini festivals such as Highlighting History 2-4 March 2012.
