ALL the single ladies, and men, of South Yorkshire will be out in force to try their luck in love, as well as in the betting stakes, when Doncaster Racecourse hosts its first ever Singles Race Night on Saturday April 16.
The Racecourse has teamed up with Hallam FM for this special event which marks the first of eight evening race meetings this summer.
Between races, Hallam FM’s love guru for the night, Drive Time presenter Ed Nell, will be playing cupid and matching up single fillies and stallions through fun dating games including the Town Moor’s very own version of ‘Blind Date’. Fans of popular dating show ‘Take Me Out’ won’t be disappointed either as they look for love in Fernando’s Bar, or simply enjoy a drink with friends. And it will be a case of ‘No Likey - No Lighty’ – just pick up a sticker when you arrive in red, amber or green to indicate whether you want to join in with the dating fun.
Regardless of whether racegoers are looking for love, there’s still plenty of off the course entertainment in the shape of prize giveaways, live music, FA Cup Football on the big screens and a not to be missed rendition of Beyoncé’s ‘All The Single Ladies’ leotard dance by the Hallam FM presenter.
On the racing front, the seven-race Doncaster Spring Mile gets underway at 4.35pm. The meeting highlight is the Fergusson Coal Doncaster Mile – a £30,000 Listed race over the round course – supported by one of the UK’s leading solid fuel suppliers.
Mark Spincer, managing director of Doncaster Racecourse, said: “At Doncaster Racecourse we like to offer our guests something more than just a great day or evening at the races. Our first ever Singles Race Night in conjunction with Hallam FM promises to be a fun-filled event and I hope that our guests are lucky both on and off the course!
“The meeting marks the first of a series of glamorous evening meetings held throughout spring and summer, which will provide the perfect night out for friends, family and business colleagues alike.”
Other evening racing highlights include The crownhotel-bawtry.com Maiden Stakes (a contest in The Racing Post Yearling Bonus Scheme – a national initiative), The springwellcarcare.co.uk Handicap Stakes, The Atteys Maiden Stakes, The SIS Live Fillies’ Handicap Stakes and The Wanted Live At Doncaster Racecourse 14th May Handicap Stakes.
The giant screen, situated opposite the main stands will enable racegoers to see all of the action. A shuttle bus service will be in operation from the railway station.
