A HELPLESS puppy has been stolen in a bank holiday burglary.

The six-week-old brown Staffordshire bull terrier, crossed with a Labrador, was part of an 11-strong litter but the unfortunate pup was the only one taken from the group on Easter Monday.

Police said the burglary happened on between 4.15pm and 5.30pm. The occupant of the home in Oliver Road, Balby, returned home to find the back kitchen door had been forced open.

To their dismay they found the loveable pup had been snatched.

A collection of other items were also taken from the property which included a DVD player, mobile phone and some cash.

South Yorkshire Police is urging anyone with more information or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them.
