CHILDREN from a junior school are getting into the Olympic spirit ahead of the torch relay passing through the borough.

Pupils from Copley Junior School have been making their own torches which they will be holding on the big day on June 26.

The entire school will be walking from Sprotbrough to Warmsworth where they will watch the Olympic Torch pass by on Tuesday.

Headteacher Alan White said: “We are incredibly excited about the Olympic Torch relay and are planning out our mini-Olympics this summer.”

Coun Cynthia Ransome, Doncaster Council’s cabinet member for communities, said: “It is good to see children getting into the Olympic spirit. June 26 will be a proud day for Doncaster and I am pleased that Copley Junior School is taking part.”
