TO celebrate CAMRA’s Community Pubs’ Month the Anglers Rest at Park Street is hosting a month’s full calendar of events.
So far there have been special foodie evenings, quiz nights and a bumper Easter draw. A bake-off and sale on April 7 and 8 raised cash for Help for Heroes.
Tonight, April 19 is a burger night and on April 21 cream teas will be served to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. Bookings are being taken for full Sunday lunch and Monday’s dish will be bubble and squeak, with a quiz, home-made stew and a crusty roll on Wednesday, and next Thursday, hand made vegetable crisps on offer. Dishes including Yorkshire Pot and Goulash follow on subsequent evenings.
The pub also sells items for Help for Heroes and has a bra bank for items to be recycled.
Landlady Simone Foster-Jowett said: “We wanted to join in the Community Pub month and planned as much as possible, so that people can simply come along and enjoy themselves.”
