It was time to get messy for delegates at an early years conference held in Doncaster.

University Centre Doncaster played host to the event which was based around outdoor learning.

Programme Leader for Early Childhood Studies, Janine Ryan welcomed over 120 practitioners from the maintained, private and independent sectors. Visitors enjoyed an inspirational keynote from Jo Gordon, of Mindstretchers, followed by a series of workshops such as ‘What Ever Happened to the Mud Pie’, ‘Fairy Garden’ and ‘Creativity Outdoors’.

A spokesman said: “The conference was a great success. The staff in my team have been raving about the conference and have come back excited about the outdoors! One member of senior staff has already been out buying resources and making items for the garden, and another member of staff has brought in some food colouring from home to make mud paints and pictures”.

Janine Ryan said: “The day was well attended and the feedback was really positive. The conferences are really beneficial in developing a Community of Practice in Early Years within the borough.”

The next conference on Speech, Language and Communication is on November 29. Book by emailing katy.noble@don.ac.uk
