Police were called at around 1.15pm on Saturday, July 16 after two children reported seeing two men putting a child into a vehicle in the Broadway area of Dunscroft.

Following the report a significant number of police resources were sent to the local area.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "A thorough investigation was carried out, which included door-to-door enquiries, reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to potential witnesses in the local community.

"No vehicle was seen and no other witnesses were found that could corroborate the initial report. No children were reported missing following this incident and no further calls of concern were received by officers.

"Extensive area searches were carried out to try and trace the vehicle to no gain.
