FAMILY furrowing fun was had by all at the 32nd annual Festival of the Plough.
Despite a bumpy road ahead of the festival, including a tough harvest, bad weather and even some of the stalls getting blown over, hundreds flocked to see the traditional farming competitions, vintage engines and animal displays at High Burnham, near Epworth.
Highlights for visitors to the popular festival included two steam engines which had been brought in to plough some land untouched since the first world war as well as a vintage car rally.
And for those wanting to observe the ploughing itself they could choose from horse drawn, steam and tractor powered options, with young and old taking part to show off their skills in the field.
John Smith, Chairman of the Festival of the Plough, said: “After the difficult harvest and weather conditions preparing for the festival we were blessed with a fine day.
“A big thank you to all the hard working committee and volunteers for all they do.
“Also thank you to the general public and everyone for their loyal support.”
Visitors to the festival also were invited to take part in the blessing of the plough at the opening of the day as well as getting crafty on a number of activity stalls, and the chance to test their luck in the raffle.
Proceeds from the raffle will be split between good causes, which in recent years have seen Haxey Pre School, Crowle Blind Group and West Butterwick Youth Group as beneficiaries - with over £190,000 raised for good causes since it started in 1980.
Despite good weather on the day, it is suspected the number of people attending the festival was slightly down on last year, although official statistics on the day have not yet been finalised.
