A POPULAR playground has been dismantled after vandals set fire to the park causing £25,000 of damage.

Police believe a gang of teenagers are responsible for the attack on the equipment in Stone Ridings, Edlington.

The arsonists, thought to be boys and girls aged between 14 and 17, struck around 3am on June 4.

Insp Ray Mountford said: “As a result of the extensive damage the children’s playground has been removed due to health and safety - leaving the local young children with nowhere to play due to this malicious damage.”
