The train leaving Platform One at Doncaster station is heading to...fame and fortune?
At least it might be for some lucky people who fancy their chances of becoming a top model like Naomi Campbell or Claudia Schiffer.
Talent scouts from one of Britain’s most famous model agencies were in town this week to turn the platform at the Trafford Way station into a catwalk.
Train operator East Coast is partnering with Premier Model Management – stars of Channel 4’s The Model Agency programme – to find the fashion world’s next big thing on board its trains and in stations this summer.
The search started in Yorkshire at Doncaster station, where Premier’s model scouts were hoping to unearth the next top male and female models, who will have the chance to win a 12-month modelling contract with the world’s leading model agency.
One of them was 16-year-old Paige Scrivens, from Finningley, who has already been signed up by Premier and is hoping her face will soon be appearing in glossy magazines or on billboards.
The summer-long ‘East Coast Premier Model Search’ has already stopped off at other stations along the East Coast route - as well as on the trains - with model hopefuls invited to put themselves forward for selection.
Paul Emberley, director of communications at East Coast, said: “With so much talent waiting to be discovered, we are pleased to be partnering with Premier to identify individuals who have a genuine chance of making the grade.
“By using our trains and running scouting events at stations along our route, we’re confident there will be many opportunities to find a great selection of potential stars up and down the UK .”
When the search has finished, shortlisted finalists will be invited to London to appear before a judging panel.
Carole White, founder of Premier Model Management, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with East Coast and having the opportunity to go to areas of the UK that we have never scouted in before. We are also extremely excited as we know that we are going to discover some brilliant new faces.”
The Premier model scouts, Tom Berry and Anthony Gordon, said they were looking for ‘star qualities’ including great style, tall and slim physique, beautiful skin, hair and a great smile, confidence and a great personality, an interest in working in the fashion industry, travel and meeting new and exciting people.
Premier Model management is one of the world’s leading model agencies, representing some of the fashion industry’s most successful faces and working with a host of international clients including Topshop, Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Jil Sander, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Fendi and Christopher Kane to name a few.
The London agency has been instrumental in discovering, nurturing and building the international careers of some of the industry’s greatest names including Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford.
