A teenage girl was subjected to a terrifying ordeal when men armed with bats tried to break into her home in Doncaster.

The 17-year-old refused to open the door when a man started knocking at her home in Doncaster Road, Armthorpe, as she did not recognise him when she looked through the spyhole.

About ten minutes later a red Vauxhall Astra is reported to have driven up to the rear of the property and two men got out of the car.

South Yorkshire Police said it is alleged they were carrying bats and tried to force entry to the property via the back door, causing damage.

The teenage girl called police and the two men fled from the scene.

Detectives have now issued an e-fit picture of a man they are tracing in relation to the incident, which happened on Tuesday, November 29, between 1.45pm and 1.55pm.

A police spokesperson said: "One of the men, pictured in the e-fit, is described as being around 25-years-old, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, of chubby build, with dark ginger hair. He was wearing a dark grey tracksuit with blue stripes down the arms.

"The other man is described as being smaller than 5ft 8ins tall, older than 25, of thinner build than the first suspect and was wearing a light grey tracksuit with his hood up.

"Did you see the red car, or see two men matching these descriptions in the area?
