A photo of a false leg supposedly left outside a Doncaster pub has gone viral on Facebook and Twitter.

The picture shows the false leg left on the pavement outside what is said to be one of the town's watering holes.

The photo was originally uploaded to the Yorkshire's Reyt Good Facebook page, which takes a humorous slant looking at Yorkshire life.

It has since been shared hundreds of times across social media.

The caption reads: "Anyone missing a leg in Doncaster last night?"

The photo has been shared more than 4,000 times with jokes from commenters about the owner getting "legless" on a night out.

However, the Facebook page is populated with other spoof photos from across Yorkshire and it is not clear when the photo was taken or if the un-named pub is in Doncaster.
