Five years of penny-pinching have drawn to an end for Bolton fundraiser Peter Finnegan - and will help to pay for activities at a Dearne school and a children’s hospice.
Peter has collected pennies and 2p coins in a 45-gallon oil barrel based at his High Street home, and last week the proceeds were presented to representatives from the Dearne’s Robert Ogden School and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
The 66-year old said: “I think no-one in the Bolton area will have any coppers left after five years of donating to me.”
