Pensioner in life-threatening condition after Mexborough collision

An 84-year-old man is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after he was in collision with a car in Mexborough.

The collision happened in Doncaster Road, Mexborough, at its junction with Montague Street, at around 12.20pm yesterday (Monday 31 March).

The 84-year-old pedestrian was in collision with a blue Vauxhall Vectra, which was being driven by a 72-year-old man from Denaby Main.

He was taken to hospital, where his condition is described as life-threatening.

The driver of the Vectra is thought to be unhurt.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 421 of 31 March 2014. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
