AN ARMY Cadet Force volunteer has been awarded one of the highest honours in the forces.

Paul Bowers, from Rossington, was one of only five people in South Yorkshire to be awarded the Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificate – an achievement ranking alongside the MBE.

The certificate was presented to Paul, by David Moody, Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Army Cadet Force.

Staff Sergeant Bowers joined the Army Cadet Force as an adult instructor in 2002, having been a cadet in the 1970’s before going on to serve 18 years in the army.

Colonel Snagge, Chief Executive of the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association, added: “I am delighted that Paul’s service has been commemorated in this way.”
