A NEW outdoor classroom has given a breath of fresh air to pupils studying at a Hatfield school.

The learning facility at Hatfield Travis Church of England School, in Cuckoo Lane, has opened in memory of former site manager, the late Bob Riley, who worked there between 2004 and 2009.

Children can enjoy lessons about the world, science, the environment, plants and gardening using the new provision. It will also be used for story-writing, children’s performances and circle time.

Headteacher Liz Hallett said: “Bob took great pride in his work and was much loved and respected by all the children, parents and staff.

“We’re all delighted the new wooden outdoor classroom will be a lasting tribute to his contribution to the children of the school.”
