Post Office services are returning to villages.

Wheatley Hills Post Office is set to be open for almost twice as long each week as part of a relaunch to make it more convenient for customers to use.

From 1pm on Friday, August 12, the branch will be open for 37 hours longer a week with new opening times of Monday to Saturday from 5am to 6pm and Sunday between 7am and noon.

Michael Brennan, area manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”

The new open plan layout will see the Post Office terminal sit alongside the retail till.

The services available to customers include sending mail by special delivery, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals. There will also be the option to send funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.
