A SELF-TAUGHT gardening enthusiast and her friends will be showcasing their green-fingered talents this weekend for charity.
Proceeds from the open gardens event will be donated to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice which provides care for youngsters from Doncaster with life-limiting illnesses.
Marilyn Tinsley is organising the weekend in Swinton. She started the open gardens event six years ago, and since then Marilyn and friends have raised more than £20,000 for the hospice.
Gardens vary in size and design. Marilyn’s garden is full with every plant imaginable and a large koi fish pond. Other exhibits include cottage gardens, others growing vegetables, and gardens with minimalist planting.
Plants are on sale at a number of gardens, refreshments and other stalls are available. There will also be a raffle.
The cost of a ticket and programme to cover the weekend is £2.50 per adult with children free of charge.
These can be purchased in advance by contacting Marilyn on 01709 587932 or on the day from Marilyn’s home in Brookfield Avenue, Swinton.
