A DONCASTER schoolgirl has been given a top award at a ceremony which saw her meet Olympic heptathlete Jessica Ennis and sprint legend Darren Campbell.

Justice Dje, of Balby Carr Community Sports and Science College, was awarded the Yorkshire and the Humber Student of the Year Award at the Sky Sports Living for Sport Awards 2012.

The awards, which recognise the efforts of students and teachers during 2012, have student of the year and teacher of the year categories, and celebrate how secondary schools are using sport to inspire young people.

Justice moved to the UK from the Ivory Coast aged 10 and her first language is French. In her first year at secondary school she was very withdrawn and lacked confidence in PE, especially in team sports as she struggled to communicate with her peers. Sport helped her develop at the school and boosted English skills.
