A FLORISTRY student has scooped a much-sought after award that only half a dozen people win each year.
Olesja Mironuka-Kupra received the City and Guilds Medals for Excellence Highly Commended Certificate after completing a level three floristry course at Doncaster College.
Olesja, 26, originally hails from Russia and came to the UK in 2004 where she worked in a factory.
She later decided to learn English and enrolled on a language course at the college before studying in floristry.
The mum-of-three plans to do a level four course at the college in Chappell Drive.
She said: “I really enjoyed my time at Doncaster College, it was something new and I liked it, I also liked the teachers they were really nice.”
Olesja now has her own floristry business in Doncaster’s indoor market specialising in dried and silk designs.
She also sells floristry sundries and does specialist work in fresh flowers.
The college’s floristry department was also recognised for its high standard of teaching and training.
