A unique project saw generations swapping skills to help break down barriers and sterotypes.

Organised by Doncaster’s Youth Council, young people worked with people from their grandparents’ generation on allotments schemes, pottery groups and coffee mornings.

Debbie Burton, part of the child services engagement team, said: “They’ve been engaging in activities such as table tennis, glass painting and bingo where older generations have passed on their skills to younger ones. The youth council have set up similar projects to return the favour, such as teaching older generations the skills required to use a mobile phone.”

The Intergenerational Day showcase event at Elmfield House included a performance from 2 Grand, John Neil and his granddaughter Sally.
