Nothing holds a candle to Christmas commemorations than ... candles!

Worldwide Candle Lighting Day
Worldwide Candle Lighting Day

Candles have been leading lights of Christmas commemorations for centuries past.

Worldwide Candle Lighting Day witnessed a global celebration of eternal flame solidarity and memory for lost loved ones (here soundtracked by 1997 Princess Diana Funeral Goodbye England's Rose reworking of Sir Elton John's classic Candle In The Wind).

Sunday saw candles lit at same 7pm time in every time zone so a consistent warm glow passed around the planet for full 24 hours, highlighted here by our "why do we light candles?" photo click content.
