Wet and windy weather failed to dampen the spirits of charity fundraisers who put their best feet forward for this year’s Midnight Walk.

Participants braved torrential downpours and chilly temperatures for the annual moneyspinner in aid of Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust.

Some of those taking part in Friday’s event on the stroke of midnight around the lake at Lakeside donned onesies, warm pyjamas and fancy dress in a bid to ward off the elements.

Carol Spiller of the Trust said the weather had failed to damped spirits. “The weather was truly horrendous,” she said. “Those taking part were drenched to the skin. But everyone who came along had a good time and fun and, of course, money was raised.”
