Dearne residents are being urged to take the plunge and join a long-running diving club.

The Doncaster Sub Aqua Club (DSAC) is appealing for new members to join after a string of long-established members retired from the group.

Chairman Linda Lawcock, 63, of Hatfield Woodhouse, said: “We are down to about 29 members as about 15 of our group decided to hang up their flippers in the last 18 months or so.

“We want to boost membership and it would be great to get some younger people or those who have never tried it before to come along and join in the fun.”

The group was established more than 50 years ago and meets at The Clubhouse in Greyfriars Road just outside Doncaster town centre.

They meet for pool training at Hall Cross School on Wednesdays at 7.30pm. The club also has its own boat and is licenced to train divers at Lakeside.
