NEW footway is set to be opened to improve access between two villages after a seven year campaign by a parish council.
The walkway along Doncaster Road will allow pedestrians safe access between Harlington and Barnburgh.
This comes seven years after Barnburgh and Harlington Parish Council highlighted the need for the footway in their parish plan in 2005.
John Palmer, clerk to the council, said the new footway would provide the final “missing link” between the two villages.
The council has organised an official opening of the walkway, which will take place in a car park adjacent to the Crown Inn at 11am on Monday, May 14.
Councillor Cynthia Ransome has agreed to attend the official opening.
