New drop-in sessions have been launched at Doncaster’s Talking Shop for war veterans and their families.

The first session is being held today, with drop-ins every first Tuesday of the month. The sessions will run from 10am until 2pm and will be run by the Royal British Legion, supported by staff from Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).

Doncaster residents can head to The Talking Shop, based at 63 Hallgate, to access a range of services including specialist books and leaflets on how to manage mental health problems and emotional distress, to access information on what services are available in the community, for informal advice face to face from a mental health expert and much more.

Joanne Goulding (pictured), RDaSH’s Deputy Manager of the Talking Shop said: “These special sessions organised by the Royal British Legion mean that veterans and their families can access a range of services, including those provided by RDaSH where they can receive help and advice on mental health issues immediately. We are looking forward to working with the Royal British Legion to make these drop-in sessions a success.”

Anyone wanting further details on the sessions should contact The Talking Shop on 01302 565650.
