A Doncaster librarian has joined Harry Potter author JK Rowling to be named one of the UK’s top literacy heros.
Lyn Hopson, a school librarian at Don Valley Academy in Scawthorpe, was one of ten – both famous and non-famous – to be honoured for helping to boost literacy or promote a love of reading.
Mrs Hopson received the accolade at a celebratory reception at Clarence House.
She was chosen from hundreds of public nominations by a panel of celebrity judges including authors Joanna Trollope after developing interactive schemes to promote reading amongst young people in Doncaster.
Others named alongside her in the award ceremony included Happy Days star Henry Winkler.
