People living with and beyond cancer have been given the chance to make a difference and help shape cancer support in a South Yorkshire town.
Doncaster residents have been invited to take part in the newly-formed Doncaster Cancer Survivorship Action Group, which is being run solely by people who have experienced cancer.
Their mission - to help improve the support available for people living with a diagnosis - will kick off at an engagement afternoon, being held at Doncaster Racecourse on October 20.
The group helps shape cancer support in Doncaster by having a seat on the local cancer board, regular meetings with health providers and commissioners, key agenda items at Doncaster Council and Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group health meetings and regular engagement and consultation events.
Member Brian Wright said: “We formed the group to ensure cancer patients living in the town have a voice and can make a positive difference.”
